Developed web portal containing data for the regions covered by the project - http://patchworkbalkan.org;

• Exchanged experience and best practices between organizations dealing with territorial cooperation;
• Enhanced public awareness about cross-border relations;
• Data on borderland developments and cross-border cooperation gathered and made available in CBC data center;
• A network of national statistical offices established;
• Cross-border data journalism courses developed and implemented.
1. Development of web portal for regional data and metadata - 97 regional statistical indicators and
metadata in the following statistical areas:
• demographic and social statistics;
• economic and business statistics;
• environmental statistics.
2. Trainings for journalists – training programs were elaborated, two data journalism workshops were
organized for demonstration of the visualization opportunities of the statistical data.
3. Development of web site of the project with information regarding the objectives, activities and events
under the project: www.bbdstats.org.
4. Social networks – a Facebook page of the project was developed to promote activities, events and project
results, which gradually gained wide popularity.
5. Brochures and promotional materials were elaborated and disseminated.
6. Media coverage and press releases provided.
Four international statistical cooperation meetings were organized in Sofia, Bulgaria – in January, June, October
2014 and March 2015 with representatives of the statistical institutes of Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Turkey
and Norway, MRDPW, NBS and Jefferson Institute.
Achieved results: A list of 97 regional statistical indicators and metadata and harmonized statistical
methodology elaborated; A cooperation network between the national statistical offices developed.
Four statistical meetings/study trips held in Norway - The Norwegian Barents Secretariat and the Ministry of
Local Government and Regional Development of Norway were hosts of two study trips – April 2014 and May
2015; Another two statistical cooperation meetings were held in February and December 2014;
Achieved results: Exchange of experience and best practices between organizations dealing with territorial
cooperation; Increased public awareness on the state of the cross-border relations; An innovative approach in
the development of databases was introduced;
Two study visits for the representatives of the Norwegian Barents Secretariat in the Bulgarian cross-border
area - In June 2014 to the border checkpoint in Svilengrad and to the Joint Technical Secretariat in Haskovo
and in June 2015 – to the Joint Technical Secretariat in Kyustendil with representatives of local and district
authorities and business;
Achieved results: Exchange of experience and best practices between the participating organizations.
