SUCCESSFUL CLOSURE OF PROGRAM BG11

With the implementation of the projects was increased the administrative capacity of the local authorities and developed the cross-border cooperation

The successful closure of program BG11 "Capacity-building and institutional cooperation", funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, was celebrated today at a closing event in the Granite Hall of the Council of Ministers.

"With a budget of 2.3 million euros we supported the capacity building and the human resource development in the Bulgarian public institutions, local and regional authorities. Even more, we have created the basis for partnership and exchange of good practice between all participants" said the Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds Malina Krumova.

Mrs. Krumova expressed her gratitude to the programme operator "Good Governance" directorate in the Council of Ministers, with director Mrs. Parvanova and to the Norwegian partners - the Association of Local and Regional Authorities and the Norwegian Barents Secretariat for their support. "I am confident that the established partnerships between the Bulgarian and Norwegian organizations will bе continued and enhanced" she said.

Under the program two major projects were implemented - to strengthen the capacity of the National Association of Municipalities in Republic of Bulgaria and development of a regional database for cross-border cooperation. Exchange of experiences on important local issues such as dialogue with the central government, coordination of services and sustainable and transparent financial management was made. As part of a regional database project, partnerships with neighboring Bulgaria countries for the exchange of statistical information that allows analysis of data for the region were created.
