Opening event of the Programme

"Over 2 million EUR will be the total budget of the program BG11" Capacity building and institutional cooperation" under the “Norwegian Financial Mechanism," this said during her welcome speech H.E. Guro Katharina Vikør - Norwegian Ambassador in Bulgaria . "Through the mechanisms of the European Economic Area and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, Norway, together with Iceland and Liechtenstein will provide Bulgaria with 126.6 million BGN intended for programs and projects in different areas such as preserving the environment, justice and home affairs, protection of the cultural heritage, human and social development, support of the civil society ".
The program is creating a platform for capacity building and institutional cooperation between the Bulgarian and Norwegian public institutions, local and regional authorities and is proposing a package of measures to be implemented through two predefined projects funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009-2014. The Activities involve exchange of experience and knowledge between public institutions and local and regional authorities in Norway and Bulgaria. The target groups are the Bulgarian public institutions, local and regional authorities as well as the civil society, businesses, cultural institutions and political leaders in their search of a comparative approach on the tendencies and best practices.
The Minister of EU funds management, in resignation, Tomislav Donchev greeted the guests at the opening event of the program and thanked the donor countries for their solidarity and understanding during the negotiation process. He encouraged the municipal representatives to use the possibilities and apply under both financial mechanisms which will be available this year.
Guests at the event were representatives of the program of the donor partners - Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities and the Norwegian Barents Secretariat, which presented their organizations. Mrs. Ginka Chavdarova / National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria / and Mrs. Maria Duzova / DG "Territorial Cooperation Management" at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works / presented the projects as beneficiaries. NFP announced the opportunities for application of the municipalities in both financial mechanisms.
